Louise is a very experienced clinical psychologist with eighteen years in clinical practice. She is the founder of Treat Yourself Well Sydney (formerly Self Essentials), creator of Treat Yourself Well online, and co-author of The Non-Diet Approach Handbook for Psychologists and Counsellors (with Fiona Willer, APD). Louise's NEW book 'Mindful Moments' about discovering Self-compassion in everyday life, was released in Feb 2016. Louise is a Clinical Psychologist, a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), a member of the Clinical College of the APS, and a proud member of the Association for Size Diversity & Health (ASDAH). Louise has been in clinical practice since 1998. Her therapeutic training and experience is in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and she also uses evidence based mindfulness and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Louise works with individuals and groups and deals with a wide range of issues.

Louise regularly speaks to the media regarding health and wellbeing issues, and regularly presents professional training workshops around Australia. She also presents at professional conferences. For details on her media experience click here.

Louise's passion is to help people learn how to 'treat themselves well', to increase self compassion and to become their own therapist. She has a special interest in problematic eating, body image and weight concerns, using the latest in the research of 'what works' to help people achieve maximum change. Louise aims to educate her clients and the world about the cruel trap of popular dieting approaches, which do little but set people up to fail. She uses an evidence based non-dieting approach to help empower people to change their lifestyles. Louise has expertise in the following areas:
