ADHD in Adults
What is ADHD? ADHD (Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder) is a label used to describe individuals whose early brain development...
A cognitive assessment is an individually administered intelligence test that is designed to measure general cognitive ability (IQ) and to provide a profile of an individual’s strengths and weaknesses in cognitive functioning.
Our Psychologists are highly trained in the administration and scoring of intelligence tests and in providing comprehensive reports.
Our cognitive assessment measures an individual’s Intelligence Quotient or “IQ”, via the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, Fourth Editon (WAIS-IV).
We use the WAIS-IV (Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, 4th edition) to assess the cognitive ability of adults from 16 years through to 90 years and 11 months. The WAIS-IV measures verbal comprehension, perceptual reasoning, working memory and processing speed, and is used for identifying cognitive strengths and weaknesses and informing intervention plans.
It can also be used for other reasons, such as:
Predicting academic achievement
Predicting work performance
Helping to diagnose intellectual disabilities and specific learning disabilities
Helping to identify brain style, i.e., Autism and ADHD
Assessing how the brain is functioning after an injury.
