Alana is an understanding, compassionate and uplifting psychologist who combines her years of study and training in evidence-based psychology with her unique blend of deep analytical thinking, humour and creativity to support her clients in their mental health journeys.

 

Alana is a strong believer in equality and the beauty of diversity. She takes a holistic approach when working with her clients and has a passion for learning and hearing about all important and unique aspects of her clients' lives, including their culture, religion, background, age, lifestyle and sexuality. 

Alana works in a down-to-earth and engaging manner. She hopes for her clients to leave each session feeling a little bit lighter, like they have been heard, cared for and supported. Alana's passion lies in positive psychology, she aims to draw out and accentuate the special strengths and abilities of her clients, while helping them to heal and to make the most of the difficulties and the opportunities in their lives. Alana maintains a collaborative therapeutic space where there is no hierarchy, everyone is human and imperfections are welcomed. Alana provides an engaging and enjoyable atmosphere of both understanding and empowerment, as she guides her clients towards richer and more meaningful lives.

 

Alana is continuously updating her techniques and ensuring that her clients receive the most innovative and effective treatment combinations possible. She has experience in working with clients across the lifespan, particularly in the areas of anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, attachment difficulties, relationship stressors, self-esteem difficulties, body image concerns and eating disorders.

 

Alana utilises trauma-informed and mindfulness based approaches to therapy. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and tailors her approaches to the unique needs of her clients. Alana follows the Health At Every Size (HAES) framework and is committed to supporting non-diet approaches to health, as well as body acceptance.
