Treat Yourself Well's intial response sessions

W.I.S.E. Parenting

Watch. Inquire. Steady. Engage.

Parenting Doesn't Come With a Manual

At Treat Yourself Well, we understand that parenting is deeply meaningful, and at times, can feel complex, overwhelming, and hard to navigate alone.

Parenting can be one of life's most rewarding experiences, but it can also bring moments that feel overwhelming, confusing or emotionally exhausting. Every child is different, and there is no single "right" way to respond to every situation.

Our work with parents is collaborative and compassionate. We support caregivers to understand their child’s emotional world, respond with confidence, and develop co-regulation skills that strengthen connection over time.

We aim to support parents to better understand their child's emotional world while developing practical strategies that strengthen connection, build emotional resilience, and create calmer family relationships. Our approach is compassionate, evidence-based and tailored to the unique needs of every family.

We also recognise the parent’s experience - providing a space that validates the challenges of raising children with diverse needs, intense of quiet feelings, while offering practical, sustainable strategies that fit within real family life.

Whether you’re a new parent, co-parenting, raising teens, or anything in between, our approach is always tailored to your family’s unique needs, values, and strengths.

THE WISE FRAMEWORK

Four small shifts, in order, every time.

Practised consistently, they change how your child's nervous system experiences you, and in turn, how it experiences the world.

Watch

Notice what's happening before you react. A dysregulated child is in crisis and needs your help to cope.

Inquire

Get curious about what's underneath. There's always a reason, behaviour is communication.

Steady

Slow down so they can too. Your calm is contagious, regulation starts with the adult in the room.

Engage

Connect from that calmer place. There's more than one way through.

You Don't Have to Have All the Answers

How we can help....

Our psychologists provide a safe, non-judgemental space to explore what’s happening in your family life. We take a compassionate and evidence-based approach to support you to:

  • Better understand your child’s behaviour and emotional needs

  • Strengthen your confidence as a parent and your connection with your child

  • Learn practical, supportive ways to respond to your child’s needs and behaviours

  • Support your child’s emotional wellbeing and development

  • Care for your own wellbeing—because parenting can feel challenging, no matter what stage your child is at

Whether you’re a new parent, co-parenting, raising teens, or anything in between, our approach is always tailored to your family’s unique needs, values, and strengths.

Support that meets you where you are...

We work collaboratively with you, and where appropriate, with your child or teen,  to build on what’s already working, gently explore what’s not, and create sustainable strategies for change. Some parents come in for just a few sessions for guidance and reassurance, while others benefit from more ongoing support.

You don’t have to be in crisis to seek help. Sometimes a small shift in understanding or approach can make a big difference for you and your family.

If you’re feeling stuck, unsure, or simply needing someone to talk to, we’re here to help.
